Lately... Updates on #1221FilmChallenge

I have been looking for a new apartment since mid FEBRUARY, to no avail, and it's been an absolute major QUEST these last few weeks especially. Currently crashing with friends while waiting to hear back from multiple leasing offices on the status of my applications... Living out of a suitcase containing only my hard drives, laptop, and a few changes of clothes while my sweet cat is being cared for by great friends in the city and all of my possessions sit in a Uhaul. Please send positive energy that this will all be over soon. If I owe you an email, phone call, or drink I'm going to need a few business days to get my situation sorted out and thanks for your patience 🤡 Despite this blip in my personal space time continuum, I woke up this morning and learned that FOUR of my shorts are going to be screening across the country in the next two months!

"Poets Are The Destroyers" Pre-Screens at CACHE - Northwest Arkansas

I had a very lovely time at the fourth installment of the Poets Are The Destroyers global pre screening tour at Cache House in Springdale, Arkansas. On Saturday, October 23rd the film pre-screened in collaboration with the Bentonville Film Festival; their Director of Programming Ashley Edwards curated a talkback q&a following the screening with our audience. We had a great conversation about the making of Poets Are The Destroyers, the importance of authentic female narratives onscreen, and why developing creative communities is critical for an artist’s success.

3 Tips for Beating Your Quarantine Creative Slump

While I can’t directly speak to or appease every individual’s experience, I can say that I know what it’s like to feel hopeless, uninspired, fearful, and downright useless. As artists, we rely on our audience to push us forward and without live contact or consistent feedback, we may not have the excitement or spark to carry on. We also need certain tools to create, and depending on your financial situation, this may feel or be near impossible. So without an audience and without the resources, what do we do?

How 2020 Became the Year I Didn't Go To Grad School (again)

I was in major denial about the state of the world for the first month of Covid, happily using my newfound funemployment and free time to write, paint, and inhale edibles like it was Midol. I documented my creative musings on Instagram and connected with other creatives through webinars hosted by Seed&Spark, Sundance Institute, and independent filmmakers. I eagerly waited for the flashing headline “Hey Everyone JK About Like, Everything — You Can All Go Back To Your Mediocre Lives Now” but it didn’t come.
